Watch | Sewage, pandemic crushes houseboat business in Nigeen Lake

As the COVID-19 pandemic had already hit the houseboat business in Srinagar city’s Nigeen Lake, the owners of houseboats complain that the government has been unable to restore its significance. They say that due to the sewage being dumped into the lake through the drainage system the lake has lost its beauty and the number of tourists has also fallen down by 70%.
