Senior Superintendent of Police Sopore, Sudhanshu Verma on Monday said two militants are behind the attack in which a councilor and a PSO were killed, while another councilor was injured.
Talking with media on the sidelines of the wreath-laying ceremony as per Global News Service (GNS) at district police line Sopore, SSP said two militants were behind the attack, he said searches are on to nab the attackers.
The officer said so far it was not known which militant outfit was behind the attack however investigation has been started.
Meanwhile, an official told that National Conference leader Irshad Rasool Kar his sister Masrat Rasool Kar, Bharatiya Janata Party leaders and other councilors are safe and have been accommodated in safer places by police.
Pertinently, Councilor Reyaz Ahmad Peer son of Ghulam Nabi Peer of Ningli Sopore, SPO Shafqat Nazir Khan son of Nazir Ahmad of Mundji Sopore were killed and another councilor Shamas Din peer son of Ghulam Mohammad Peer were seriously injured in the attack at Sopore.(GNS)
