Jammu and Kashmir police on Monday claimed to have arrested two militant associates from north Kashmir’s Sopore Baramulla district.

Unnamed officials told a local news agency, Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that a joint team of the army’s 22 Rashtriya Rifles, Special Operations Group, Central Reserve Police Forces’ 179, 92 BN and Sopore police laid a checkpoint at Darpora Bomai and “arrested two active militant associates”.

A police spokesman identified both as Ishfaq Ahmad Mir son of Ghulam Hassan Mir of Gund Brath and Mohammad Shafi Bhat son of Late Md Maqbool of Darpora Bomai and claimed to have recovered one hand grenade-1 and AK-47 rounds-20 from their possession.

He said A case FIR No. 63 / 2020 U/S 7/25 IA Act, 18, 23, 38, 39 ULA (P) Act has been registered in PS Bomai in this rear—(KNO)
