Srinagar: Glorious tributes were paid to the Slain Mirwaiz of South Kashmir, Dr. Qazi Nisar Ahmed on his 26th “Martyrdom anniversary”.
People from several places in Kashmir despite the lockdown amid the global pandemic visited his grave where he is laid to rest and his family in South Kashmir.
In a statement issued here, a spokesperson of the organization said, “Maintaining social distance and other precautionary measures people marched from his home to the martyrs graveyard and offered floral tribute to the slain leader, various members of bar council Islamabad, Traders, transporters, pro resistance workers were also present here,”
According to the spokesperson members of Ummat e Islami paid glowing tributes to the party founder, who was killed by Gunmen on 19 June 1994, “Here the party chairman, Qazi Ahmed Yasir and several others addressed the gathering and later Fateh Khwani was offered to the slain leader and other people who have laid down their lives for the cause of Freedom,”
Adding that members of various religious and political outfits reached the Martyrs graveyard and remembered the services of the former Mirwaiz of south Kashmir and the centuries-old service of the Qazi Family of Anantnag.
The leaders also asked the Indian government to “stop aggression against Kashmiris,” “On one side, Indian Government allows the mass funeral processions of soldiers, and on the other, they are blocking the funerals of Kashmiris in the name of COVID-19. We must be at least allowed to perform our religious duties.”
