Srinagar: At least three persons allegedly committed suicide in Jammu division at separate places in the region on Monday.

A man allegedly hung himself with a tree in Kalihand area of Doda district in afternoon, police said.

Official source said that the man (name withheld) of Kalihand, hanged himself in the seasonal Muddy house at Kalihand near forests. “He had died on the spot,” said the official.

After completion of legal formalities, the body was handed over to his relatives for last rites.

In a separate incident, another man allegedly committed suicide by jumping into the Chinab River in Doda district of Jammu, police said.

A person identified as Rafiq Ahmad jumped into the river near his residence at Sekwan from Ganpat Bridge, officials said, adding that the efforts are on to find the body.

In third incident, Neelma Devi, 40, allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself inside her house at Barana village on Sunday, the official said.

Station House Officer (SHO) Doda, Muneer Ahmad Khan, told that in all the three incidents, inquest proceedings under 174 CrPC has been initiated at concerned police station. (KNO)
