Srinagar: Unknown gunmen shot at a territorial army trooper in Jablipora area of Bijbehara in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Friday.

Unnamed official sources told a local news agency, Global News Service (GNS) that militants fired upon a man aged 45-years-old, leaving him critically injured.

Medical Superintendent Sub District Hospital Bhejbera Dr. Tulla Singh told the agency that a man has received multiple bullet wounds in the head and abdomen.

He has been shifted to Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag for advanced treatment.

The trooper has been identified as Mohd Saleem Akhoon son of Ghulam Hassan Akhoon resident of Bhejbhera. Meanwhile, the whole area has been cordoned off to nab the fleeing militants, the officials said. (GNS)
