On the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday, Kashmir recorded the coldest night of the season so far as the temperature dipped to -4.8 degree Celsius in Srinagar while Gulmarg, a famed hill station, recorded -11 degree Celsius.
In Pahalgam, temperature was recorded at -7 degrees Celsius as Chillai Kalan, the harshest winter period of 40 days, nears. It’s first phase starts from 21 December. The weather in Ladakh has also been very harsh over the past few days. The latest temperature recorded in Leh was -10.8 degrees Celsius.
The Met department has predicted dry weather till next week, which would mean more drop in the temperatures.
