Srinagar: Member Rajya Sabha, Fayaz Mir on Monday expressed surprise over-demanding of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir by few political parties and questioned why they relied on that which is due to J-K and abandoned core issue of Article 370.

Talking to a local news gathering agency Kashmir News Service (KNS), Fayaz Mir termed August 5, 2019 a “darkest” day in the history of J-K and said it is surprising some political parties have relied upon the statehood and gave up  Article 370.

He said statehood to J-K should be no concern for political parties as it has been promised by Home Minister Amit Shah on the floor of house last year, besides Bharatiya Janta Party senior functionary Ram Madhav repeatedly assured that it will be given back to J-K.

“Government of India will have to resume statehood of J-K as it is promised with the people of J-K. We should rake up why the special status of J-K was repealed. Why few political parties are trying to change the direction”, he questioned? (KNS)
