In a suspected incident of fratricide on Friday morning, three army personnel were killed and one was injured in an alleged shootout inside an Army camp in Jammu and Kashmir’s Surankote area of Poonch district.

The victims are from 156 Territorial Army and are locals from Jammu and Kashmir.

Defense sources told a local news agency, Kashmir News Trust (KNT), that there was a heated argument between Imran Ahmed, a resident of Kalakote and Imtiyaz Ahmed of Mendhar over some personal matter. Both opened fire on each other leading to their death, however, some bullets hit two other army personnel identified as Makhan Singh and Khalil Ahmed, leaving them critically injured.

The injured were airlifted to Udhampur Army Hospital where one among them succumbed to his injuries.

Army has ordered an inquiry into the incident while police have registered a case and set the investigation into motion. (KNT)
