Mayor of Srinagar, Junaid Azim Mattu on Monday extended heartfelt felicitations and warm wishes to the people on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.

In a statement, Mattu prayed for peace and prosperity for the people.

Mayor Srinagar Junaid Mattu said Eid-ul-Azha signifies the spirit and selflessness of sacrifice as a virtue to be embodied and emulated in our day-to-day lives.

“May this Eid usher us into an era of peace, dignity and prosperity and may we be guided by the Almighty to take care of the destitute, the orphans and the less fortunate on this joyous occasion”, the Srinagar Mayor added.

The fact that this Eid comes amidst a pandemic invites our attention to abide by laid down standard operating procedures, above all wearing masks and maintaining social distance, the Mayor further added.

Directions have also been passed to the staff of the SMC to carry out market checking, decongest roadsides for easy movement of vehicles and pedestrians on the occasion and ensure the uninterrupted provision of public services.

The Mayor also urged the people to help the authorities in ensuring proper cleanliness and proper disposal of waste, including animal hides and skin as we celebrate Eid-ul-Azha.
