Two militants have been killed in an ongoing gunfight in Sopore area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, officials said.
News agency GNS quoted official sources saying that two militants have been killed in a gunfight that broke out on Monday late evening in Pethseer village of Sopore. The identity of the killed militants is yet to be ascertained.
Searches are still underway at the gunfight site as there is possibility of the body of another militant, the sources, as per GNS, said.
Meanwhile, the mobile internet services have been snapped in Sopore while the train service between Budgam to Baramulla has also been suspended as precautionary measures.
The gunfight broke yesterday after a joint team of police, army’s 52RR and 179/ 177 BN of CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in Peethseer village.
As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering off the gunfight.
