Sonamarg is witnessing overwhelming tourist flow with 4,44,008 of them visiting the tourist resort in the last five month.
As per a local news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Sonamarg, with a literal meaning ‘the meadow of gold’ and with snow clad mountains sharing a spectacular blue sky, situated at an altitude of 2730 m, is a mesmerizing hill station in Ganderbal.
The numbers of tourists increased from March to May with a total 4,44,008 tourists visiting the place. Of them, 4,14,685 were domestic and 28,834 local tourists, and 382 foreigners,Tourist Officer Sonamarg Basharat Hussain told KNO.
The flow of tourists is much better than what it was earlier in 2012-2013, said Shahzad Rasool, a local hotelier.
Another hotelier Showkat Wani , a hotelier at Sonamarg said that this time all hotels are packed and the season is going on very well after several years—(KNO)
