Snow clearance on the historic Mughal road linking Shopian in south Kashmir with Rajouri and Poonch in Jammu region began on 6 March, Mechanical Engineering Department (MED) said on Saturday.
Last year the snow clearance had started on 17 March, this year it has started from 6 March, ” If weather permits, we are hopeful to reach Peer Ki Gali, by the end of this month,” Chief Engineer Mechanical Engineering Department said.
The 86-km-long road has remained shut since December last year due to the accumulation of snow.
Earlier on 4 March, District Commissioner of Shopian, Sachin Kumar Vaishya in a Tweet had said, “Snow clearance on Mughal Road to begin tomorrow,”
