Srinagar: One army trooper was injured in an ongoing encounter in Kanigam Village of South Kashmir’s Shopian district.

A senior Police officer told GNS that one armyman was injured when militants tried to break cordon by firing volley of bullets on forces.

However militants couldn’t manage to escape as security forces again engaged them, the officer added.

Earlier, Reports reaching GNS that a joint team of Police, Army’s 44 RR and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in Kanigam.

As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering off an gunfight.(GNS)
