Two civilians were injured during a gunfight at Pandoshan area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district, officials said on Monday evening.
Officials said that during the initial Cordon & Search Operation (CASO), the militants fired upon civilians and tried to escape, in which two civilians got injured.
“Both the injured shifted to hospital. One of them is critical,” they said, adding that the cordon has been strengthened.
Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir Police said that ‘militants fired upon civilians and tried to escape’.
“During initial cordon & search operation, #terrorists fired upon civilians and tried to escape, in which two #civilians got #injured. Both the injured shifted to hospital. One of them is critical. Cordon strengthened, details shall follow,” the police department wrote on twitter.
Pertinently, a gunfight broke out between militants and government forces at Pandoshan area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Monday.
An official said that a joint team of Police, Army and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation on specific information about the presence of militants in the area.
He said that as the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, which was retaliated, triggering gunfight.
Reports said that two to three militants are believed to be trapped. (KNO)
