Supreme Court on Saturday upheld the High Court judgement of  banning 9% tax for vehicles re-registration.

The SC dismissed the SLP of Transport Department in case titled UT of Jammu and Kashmir Vs Zahoor Ahmad Bhat.

Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul Justice Sudhanshu Dhulia while hearing the government counsel and counsel for Zahoor Ahmad Bhat, Adv Soayib Qureshi(AOR), dismissed the SLP and upheld the Judgement of Division Bench of High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.

The Transport Department had challenged the High Court orders dated 09/11/2021 and 07/11/2022 banning demand of 9% tax for re-registration in Jammu and Kashmir through the SLP 14654/2023, “but the Supreme Court dismissed the SLP and upheld the orders of High Court”.
