Three persons including a girl, whose marriage was scheduled on Sunday, her lover and cousin brother were killed when their motorcycle collided with a truck near Sumatia village under the limits of Jigna police station in Mirzapur district on Saturday night, Times of India reported.
Station officer Jigna Arvind Pandey on Sunday said during initial investigation of the incident it came to light that due to over-speeding the uncontrolled motorcycle collided with a truck coming from opposite direction while overtaking another vehicle near Sumatia village.
All three persons, including two boys and a girl on the motorcycle were killed on the spot. Pandey said after the family members of girl and boys reached the spot they were identified as Rani, Karan and Vikas, all aged around 21 years, said police.
It also came to light that marriage of Rani was fixed with a boy from Prayagraj and was scheduled on Sunday evening. Rani was not ready to marry the boy her family had chosen for her as she had an affair with a boy, who was a relative of her cousin brother. The girl, her cousin and her lover prepared a plan for her to elope. The boys reached Rani’s home on a motorcycle and escaped.
They had travelled only a kilometer when they met with an accident and died on the spot. Pandey said the bodies were sent for postmortem.
