Srinagar: A retired Territorial Army (TA) man, who was shot at by suspected militants on Subday evening in Buchroo village of Kulgam, south Kashmir, succumbed to his injuries at 92 base hospital, Badamibagh, Srinagar, in early hours of Monday.

The gunmen had fired upon the retired Army man, Abdul Hamid Mantoo, son of Ghulam Hassan Mantoo, on Sunday evening at Buchroo, Kulgam. “He was shifted to PHC (Primary Healthcare Center) Qaimoh in critical condition wherefrom he was referred to GMC Anantnag hospital for specialized treatment,” officials said.

A doctor at Government Medical College confirmed that the army man, who had sustained bullet wounds, was shifted to 92 base hospital Srinagar. Another official confirmed that the retired army man succumbed to his injuries at about 3 am, reported KNO.

“Police has also taken cognizance of the incident and registered FIR under relevant sections of law and further investigation has been taken up,” the officer said. (KNO)
