Jammu and Kashmir police chief Dilbag Singh on Tuesday said that police have got some vital clues with regard to the Rajouri attacks and that the success will be achieved soon.

Singh also said the two Lashkar-e-Toiba militants from Pulwama district were killed in Budgam gunfight today, were planning to move towards Srinagar district.

While talking to reporters on the sidelines of closing ceremony of J-K Police Martyrs Memorial Football Tournament at TRC Srinagar, Director General of Police (DGP) said that the operation was launched yesterday in Budgam, but after firefight the militants gave slip but were traced again today.

“During a naka, the militants were traced and were asked to stop for checking, but they jumped from the vehicle and fired upon the forces and tried to escape from the spot,” he said and added that the fire was retaliated and the duo belonging to LeT and hailing from Pulwama district were killed during the gunfight.

“Both the militants were moving towards Srinagar district and the reasons behind will be known after the investigation. They left from their old hideout and were in search of the new hideout,” he said.

About Rajouri attack, the police chief said that police have got some vital clues during the investigation. “The area is close to the forest and after frequent militant sightings, four-five unsuccessful operations have been launched. As far as investigation is concerned, we have got some solid clues and the arrests will be made soon. I hope that the success will be achieved soon,” he said.

Asked about security measures for Republic Day celebrations and Bharata Jodo Yatra, he said that a meeting in this regard was held today in which top officers participated. “We have taken adequate measures and peaceful R-Day celebrations will be ensured,” he said. (KNO)
