A civilian was killed after he sustained ‘critical’ injuries when a bullet hit him in Haal village of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district, reported a local news agency, Kashmir News Trust (KNT).
A police officer told KNT that it was an accidental fire.
Reports said that the bullet hit a civilian after the service rifle of government forces’ personnel went off accidentally.
The victim identified as Asif Ahmed, a resident of the Koterwali area in Shopian, was shifted to SMHS Hospital in Srinagar where he reportedly succumbed to the injuries.
Police have taken cognizance of the incident and started an investigation into the matter. (KNT)
