The firing stopped after a brief exchange between militants and the government forces in Parigam area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama on Sunday.

An unidentified senior police officer told a local news agency, Global News Service (GNS) that a brief exchange of firing took place between the forces and militants in orchards of Parigam, however, the searches are still underway in the area.

However, an unidentified senior police official told Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that there was no exchange of fire in the area, however, a few gunshots were fired upon the patrolling party of 50 RR, after which a search operation was launched in the area.

Earlier, according to the reports reaching GNS, a joint team of Police, Army’s 50 RR and CRPF launched a cordon-and-search-operation in Parigam.

As the joint team encircled the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them. The fire was retaliated by the joint team, triggering off a gunfight. (GNS)
