Srinagar: Union Home Minister Amit Shah, in a recent TV interview said that elections in Jammu and Kashmir will be held within six to eight months of the conclusion of the delimitation exercise.
“Elections in J-K will be held within six to eight months of the Delimitation exercise being wrapped up in the Union Territory, Shah said earlier this week.
He also said that the statehood will be restored once the situation in the region normalises.
“The delimitation exercise is about to get over. After that, within six-eight months, the elections will be held. There is no confusion,” Home Minister said in an interview to Network 18.
This is for the first time that assembly polls will be held when J-K is a Union Territory.
