The police has identified the militant killed in a gunfight in Shopian today as Nadeem Ahmad Rather, who was affiliated with the Hizbul Mujahideen.
As per a tweet by the Kashmir police, Rather, alias Kamran, a resident of Kulgam, “was involved in several terror crimes including killing of Kulpora Panch and recruitment of youth into terror ranks”.
Earlier, a gunfight broke out between the government forces and militants at Badimarg village of south Kashmir’s Shopian district.
A joint team of police, Army, and CRPF after receiving information about the presence of militants launched a search operation in the area.
