Srinagar: Authorities suspended a pharmacist in Kupwara, north Kashmir, for refusing to serve food to COVID-19 patients.

Official sources told that District Administration Kupwara issued suspension order in favour of a pharmacist (ISM), Shabir Ahmed Lone, who is deployed at Isolation Hospital in Kupwara.

District Development Commissioner Kupwara, Ansul Garg, decided to suspend the pharmacist after Chief Medical Officer, Kupwara, reported that Lone, who was deployed for duties at COVID-19 Hospital, Kupwara, for the newly established quarantine centre, refused to serve food to the patients, thereby causing inconvenience to them.

“The pharmacist has been suspended for his unruly behavior. During the period of his suspension and till the completion of enquiry into this incident, he will remain attached with the officer of Sub-Divisional Magistrate Karnah,” said Ansul Garg. (KNT)
