Srinagar: Over 50 illegally raised shops were on Monday demolished in Tral area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district, officials said on Wednesday.
Officials said that a demolitions drive was today launched in Bus Stand area of Tral with an aim to clear the encroachment and illegal constructions in the town here, reported wire-service KNO.
In this connection, at least 54 shops have been demolished in the Bus Stand area, officials said, adding that the drive was headed by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Tral Shabir Ahmad Raina, who was accompanied by SDPO Tral Dr. Aijaz Qureshi, SHO Tral Gulzar Ahmad, Naib Tehsildar Tral, EO Municipal Committee Tral and other officers.
Besides shops, various other illegally raised structures were demolished by the authorities.
Meanwhile, the shopkeepers whose shops were demolished have demanded the rehabilitation.
ADC Tral Shabir Ahmad Raina, however, said that he will try to take steps to rehabilitate these shopkeepers soon. (KNO)
