The search operation in south Kashmir’s Shopian forest belt entered 110th hour since a cordon and search operation was launched by the government forces last Saturday.
Atul Goel, Deputy Inspector General, south Kashmir, told The Kashmir Walla “the search operation is still going on”. However, the officer said there was no further update regarding the presence of the militants.
Last Saturday, a joint team of the police, the army, and the paramilitary forces launched a cordon and search operation in Choor Ki Gali forest area near Sedaw and Hirpora villages of the district.
When the government forces approached the suspected spot, reportedly, the hiding militants fired upon them which was retaliated triggering a gunfight. The contact with the militants was later lost, which were believed to be present in a small group of four to five.
Later in the day, The Kashmir Walla reported, the government forces pressed helicopters into service to trace a group of
militants in a forest belt of south Kashmir’s Shopian district.
However, another senior official told The Kashmir Walla that there was no latest input regarding the operation.
