Srinagar: Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah expressed grief over the killing of five government forces’ officials in Handwara.

The National Conference leader wrote on his twitter handle: “Sorry to hear about the army & police officers & the jawan who laid down their lives in the line of duty in Handwara this morning. May their souls rest in peace & may their families & colleagues find strength at this difficult time.”

Earlier today, two senior army officers and a Sub-Inspector of police were among five government forces personnel killed in a gunfight with militants in Chanjimulla Handwara, a forest area in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

Two militants were also killed in the gunfight which broke out at around 3:45 pm on Saturday.
