Srinagar: On 15 August, the independence day, the government decided not to shut down the internet and no major restrictions were imposed on people’s movement.

The Inspector-General of Police (Kashmir), Vijay Kumar said that there is neither internet shutdown nor restrictions on the eve of Independence day.

In past, for decades, internet shutdown and strict restrictions were usually imposed in Kashmir valley on 15 August.

IGP Kumar further added that counter-drone technology has been deployed at all sensitive places in the region, especially in the main city center Lal Chowk.

He also extended greetings to the public on the day and appealed to everyone to participate in the day’s functions in huge numbers.
