Police in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Monday evening rubbished the rumors which were being floated on social media about a mine blast on Bandipora highway and termed it as fake and baseless.

An unnamed senior police officer told a local news agency, Kashmir Dot Com (KDC) that no IED has been blasted anywhere in the district, adding that a fabricated video is being circulated on social networking sites with an intention to disrupt peace and normalcy in the area.

He also warned of stern action under the law against persons spreading fake and fabricated rumors.

Earlier, a two-second video went viral on social media claiming that an IED has been blasted somewhere on Bandipora highway without furnishing more details or exact location. (KDC)
