Srinagar: Mobile internet services snapped in Kashmir Valley in early hours of Wednesday after a gunfight erupted in Beighpora, Pulwama, south Kashmir, the native village of Hizbul Mujahideen commander, Riyaz Naikoo.
“A joint team of 55 RR [Rashtirya Rifles of the army], CRPF [Central Reserve Police Force], and Awantipora Police launched a cordon and search operation in the area,” a police offical told KNO.
Kashmir had been using restricted internet speed — 2G — for months, which was only restored after months of blackout following the scrapping of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir in August 2019.
