The militants on Tuesday flee after an initial exchange of gunfire in Kakapora belt of Pulwama district, reported a local news agency, Kashmir News Observer (KNO), quoting unidentified official sources.

An unidentified senior police officer told the agency that a search operation that was launched after a brief exchange of fire has been called off. He said that the search operation was launched by a joint team of forces including 50 Rashtriya Rifles (RR), Central Reserve Police Force, and Pulwama Police on specific inputs about the presence of militants in Marwal village of Pulwama district.

He said that when the search operation was being launched, militants fired upon forces that was retaliated triggering a gunfight. In the brief gunfight, two army troopers were injured.  “Search operation which continued for many hours has been called off,” he said. (KNO)
