Srinagar: Body of a militant was recovered late last night from Check Kawoosa after four days of searches following a brief gunfight in the Central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

A local news gathering agency Global News Service quoting an unnamed official from police reported that the body was recovered from a Nala (Waterbody) in which the militant had jumped after suffering bullet injury in his neck during the brief gunfight on 7 September.

The gunfight had ensued after a joint team of police, 02 Rashtriya Rifles of army and Central Reserve Police Force launched a cordon and search operation amid inputs about the presence of militants.

Since then the searches were continuing and the body was recovered late last night.

As per the sources, the slain militant has been identified as Aqib lone resident of Aglar, Pulwama and believed to be affiliated with JeM.(GNS).
