Srinagar: After lengthy searches finally gunfight breaks out between militants and goverment forces in Beighpora area of Awantipora in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Wednesday.

Reports reaching here said that a joint team of Police, army’s 55 RR and CRPF launched cordon search operation Beighpora during night hours.

As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, triggering an encounter.

A senior police officer also confirmed about the exchange of firing between forces and militants. As per the sources two to three militants believed to be trapped. Police took to it’s official Twitter handle to add a top Hizbul Mujahideen commander is trapped.

Pertinently this is second encounter in Awantipora in a span of eight hours. (GNS)
