Srinagar: Former chief minister Omar Abdullah on Sunday called the detention of political leaders as “immoral and unjustified.”

The Vice-President of National Conference, Abdullah, who was released last month after over 7-month detention, took to micro-blogging site to remind that “in all the Covid-19 news let’s not lose sight of the fact that today” former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti and National Conference leader Ali Mohammad Sagar and others “completed eight months of totally immoral and unjustified detention.”

Abdullah also added that the government has “detained them out of spite simply because it could get away with it.”

The political leaders in Jammu and Kashmir were detained on August 4 ahead of the abrogation of Article 370. Most of the leaders have been released but many remain in either detention, house-arrest, or in jails.
