Srinagar : Jammu and Kashmir police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested a man involved in allegedly molesting a minor girl.
In a statement issued, a spokesperson said that Police Station Qazigund received a complaint for assistance from complaints (name with-held to protect identity of victim) that their minor girl age 12 Years (name withheld) has been allegedly molested by one person namely Ghulam Nabi Parray, son of Muhammad Hussain Parray of Chowgam Qazigund with the intention to assault her sexually.
“Acting promptly on the complaint, a team headed by SHO Qazigund under the close supervision of SDPO Qazigund was constituted to trace and nab the culprit. Utilizing all available means, specific information was generated by the investigating team which led to catching the accused person,” he said, adding that the accused have been arrested and are behind bars.
Regarding the incident, police said a case under FIR number 280/2020 under section 354 IPC, 8 POCSO Act stands registered in Police Station Qazigund and further investigation into the matter has been initiated.
