As a long winter ends and Kashmir’s meadows are green again, the people of the mountain – a semi-nomadic Gujjar tribe – have returned to their summer homes.
The Kashmir Walla’s Umer Asif and Abrar Fayaz visited Doodhpathri meadow on the edge of central Kashmir’s Budgam district to document this renewal of life’s cycle.
Gujjars spend their winters in the foothill villages and return to mountainous meadow resorts during summers where vast pastures serve as feeding grounds for their cattle and other livestock.
Asif and Fayaz documented the life of a Gujjar family and also captured the stunning landscape of Doodhpathri.
