Panic gripped the densely populated twin villages including Nesbal and Madwan of north kashmir’s Bandipora district on Sunday after two leopards were sighted.
Locals told a local news agency, Kashmir News Service (KNS), that the appearance of the leopards created panic in the areas and people tried to chase them out from the area.
Rather Mehraj Sarpanch Nasbal told KNS that wild animals are roaming in the villages since many last days and have caused damage to livestock but wildlife department fails to act so far.
“Our children feel unsafe, even we can’t go to our orchards, we once requested wildlife department to catch the wild animals so we get a sigh of relief,” he said.
Meanwhile, an official said that the teams of the wildlife department were deputed to these areas, earlier in the day, to locate the animal and catch it before it caused any casualty. (KNS).
