The heat wave has gripped Kashmir for the second straight day on Wednesday as all the stations across the Valley recorded the hottest day of season while the weatherman has predicted hot and dry weather conditions till June 23.

Srinagar, the summer capital, again recorded the hottest day of the season as the mercury settled at 34.0 degree Celsius today.

The data available reads that Sopore, Kupwara, Qazigund, Kokernag, Anantnag, Budgam, Baramulla, Gulmarg, Pahalgam, Sonamarg and others recorded the hottest day of the season too.

Sopore was the hottest in Kashmir where the mercury settled at 34.2 degree Celsius.

As per the data, the mercury in Kupwara settled at 33.1 degree Celsius while in Baramulla, it settled at 32.6 degree Celsius. It added that Kokernag recorded a maximum temperature of 31.5 degree Celsius.

The data reads that Gulmarg recorded a maximum temperature 24.6 degree Celsius while in Pahalgam it settled at 28.4 degree Celsius.

The weatherman has, however, predicted mainly hot and dry weather till June 23, saying that the current hot and dry conditions would likely continue till June 23.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Deputy Director Meteorological department (MeT) had said that from June 24-28, the weather would remain generally cloudy while there is a possibility of intermittent light to moderate thunderstorms at scattered to fairly widespread places.

Independent Weather Forecaster, Faizan Arif Keng said that overall the maximum temperature over many parts of Kashmir division would likely range between 34-35 degree celsius. (KNO)
