Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir police Tuesday claimed to have busted a Jaish-e-Mohammad militant module in Anantnag by arresting a recently recruited militant and a militant “associate” during two separate Naka checking.

In a statement issued to the news agency, an official spokesperson said that Anantnag Police along with Army’s 1st RR unit laid nakas at multiple places and conducted intensified checking.

“During checking one recently recruited militant of proscribed JEM outfit namely Ayaaz Ahmad Bhat son of Ghulam Rasool Bhat, a resident of Shirpora Bala was apprehended and one Chinese Pistol, one magazine and 7 live rounds were recovered from him,” he said.

He said that a case FIR No. 11 of 2021 under section 13, 16, 18, 20 UAPA and 7/25IA Act has been registered at PS Anantnag in this regard.

He further said that acting upon another information that militants are planning to lob grenade in Anantnag town, forces laid surprise nakas at multiple places.

“During checking one militant associate namely Rayees Ahmad Mir son Abdul Rasheed, a resident of Chandhara Pampore of JeM militant outfit was apprehended at Mehendi Kadal and one hand grenade was recovered from his possession,” he said.

He said that a case FIR No. 12 of 2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Anantnag in this regard.
