The Supreme Court has listed a hearing for the writ petition regarding the early assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir.

The petition was filed by former minister and advocate Harsh Dev Singh, who seeks the court’s intervention in restoring the democratic process in the region. The Chief Justice of India will lead the bench hearing the case.

Singh expressed concern over the Government of India and the Election Commission of India’s lack of response on the matter, prompting him to approach the country’s highest court. He emphasised that delaying the elections would undermine democracy and contravene the orders of the Supreme Court.
