Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Basant Rath has submitted his resignation letter to chief secretary of Jammu and Kashmir wishing resignation or voluntary retirement from his services.

In his letter to chief secretary Jammu and Kashmir, a copy of which lies with a local news agency, Kashmir News Service (KNS), Rath has wished to participate electoral process.

He has urged the CS to consider the letter as his request for resignation or voluntary retirement from his services.

“I wish to resign from the Indian Police Service in order to be able to participate in electoral politics. Please consider this letter as my request for resignation/voluntary retirement and process it accordingly. I’ll be grateful,” reads the letter. (KNS)
