An official inquiry was ordered into the allegations against a private company for overcharging at an entry point at Aharbal in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district, officials said Thursday.

They said that contractors of a private firm that has been in contract to charge entry fees of vehicles at Aharbal in Kulgam were allegedly violating the rules and exploiting hundreds of visitors daily by charging 30 rupees instead of 20 rupees.

As per a local news agency, Kashmir News Observer (KNO), a video went viral on social media as well where it has been found that the contractor has made receipts of 30 rupees instead of 20 rupees and was charging 30 rupees from every vehicle owner entering Aharbal.

People appreciated the person who made a video where contractors were cheating people.

Meanwhile, Ghalib Shah CEO of Aharbal Development Authority told KNO that they have already taken cognizance of the issue and an inquiry has been ordered.

“This entry point has been outsourced earlier and all angles in this issue will be checked and whosoever will be found involved, strict action will be taken against them,” he said, adding that if needed an FIR will be lodged against the private company. (KNO)
