India recorded a massive surge in COVID-19 cases on Friday with 386,452 fresh COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the caseload to 18,762,976.

The country reported 3,501 COVID-19 related deaths, while the toll has reached 208,330. This has been over a week that the country has reported over 3 lakh cases and over 2,000 deaths.

India is now the second worst-hit country. The active cases in the country are now nearly 3.2 million. Since 15 April, the country has been recording more than 2 lakh cases every day.
