With a slight dip in COVID-19 cases, India has recorded 4,01,078 fresh cases taking the toll to 2,18,92,676 in the last 24 hours.
However, as per the Union Health Ministry, the death count is still upwards as the country reported 4,187 in the last 24 hours taking the fatality count to 2,38,270. The active cases in the country are 37,23,446 and the total recoveries are 1,79,30,960.
India accounted for 46 percent of global cases and 25 percent of global deaths reported in the past week, the World Health Organization said on Wednesday, reported NDTV.
Maharashtra continues to be the biggest contributor to the daily tally as the state reported 54,022 new cases on Friday, reported Mint. So far, the pandemic has claimed over 3.2 million lives worldwide.
