India recorded 2.08 lakh new coronavirus infections in a single day, pushing the total tally of COVID-19 cases to 2.71 crores, while the deaths crossed the 3-lakh mark, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Monday.

The death count climbed to 3.11 lakh with 4,157 daily deaths, the data updated at 8 am showed. However, the count is believed to be vastly undercounted. The active number of Covid-19 cases in the country is 24,95,591.

India set a new record with the highest number of COVID-19 tests conducted in the last 24 hours at 22.17 lakh, reported NDTV.

Globally, there are 16.78 crore confirmed COVID-19 cases with 34.85 lakh deaths.
