Srinagar: The armies of India and Pakistan on Friday morning exchanged gunfire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Uri sector.
Unnamed officials told a local news agency, Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that Pakistan army resorted to unprovoked shelling along the LoC in north Kashmir’s Uri sector in Baramulla district.
“Pakistani Army used heavy morter shelling and targeted check posts in Hajipeer sector and other posts in Baramulla district on Friday morning,” official said, adding that Indian Army retaliated befittingly.
The exchange of gunfire was going on when the report was last filed.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Baramulla, Abdul Qayoom told KNO that shelling is going on in four villages of Uri including Churanda, Hathlanga, Gowhalan and Hajipeer.
However, no report about injuries or casulities was reported so far. (KNO)
