From January 2021, not wearing a face-mask in public places will entail a fine of 200 rupees in Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, said the mayor, Junaid Mattu.
On Monday, Mattu wrote on Twitter: “Starting 1st January, as per Sections 43 (g), 282, 284, 285 1 (a), 1 (b), 2 and 287 of the J&K Municipal Corporation Act, 2000 and as a preventive measure to combat #COVID19 pandemic in #Srinagar city limits — not wearing a face-mask in public places will entail a fine of Rs. 200.”
So far, Jammu and Kashmir has recorded 1,18,495 COVID-19 cases including 1,844 deaths.
