People across the Jammu district have paid around rupees forty five (45) lakh in fines for violation of various norms during and after the Covid-19 lockdown period.

An official told News Agency Kashmir Dot Com (KDC) that 45 lakh fine was recovered from over nine thousand (9000) violators of Covid related Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) put forth by the government.

Releasing data on Monday, officials said that despite repeated appeals and mass awareness, citizens disobeyed laws.

“Government had taken every effort to emphasize on following safety guidelines but masses roamed around without masks, gathered in crowds and did other activities in different areas of Jammu district which compelled police to take strict action,” they said.

They also stressed upon strict adherence of Covid-19 related SOPs for protection of masses from this pandemic. (KDC)
