In a major crackdown on drug mafia, police in Baramulla have so far apprehended twenty-eight drug peddlers in the ongoing month of April in this north-Kashmir district.

A police official concerned told a local news agency, Global News Service (GNS) that four fresh arrests were made on Monday last on recovery of three-hundred fifty grams of contraband Charas-like substance from a vehicle – Santro – bearing registration number JK-04B 3071 they were on board, during a naka checking at Batpora Kunzer.

Identifying the arrestees as; Ishfaq Ahmad Malik resident of Khag Budgam, Nasir Ahmad Bhat (SPO), a resident of Khag Budgam, Noor Mohammad Malik, Abid Khaliq Malik of Shunglipora Khag, the official further said that a case under relevant sections of law has been registered and due investigations taken up.

With the new arrests a total of twenty-eight drug-peddlers have been arrested in the district so far, the official said adding that there will be no let up in our efforts to uproot the drug-mafia and the ongoing crackdown will only be intensified to see a drug-free Baramulla sooner than later.
