The Jammu and Kashmir police claimed to have arrested a person allegedly involved in molesting and sexually assaulting a girl in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district.

In a statement police said, “Police Station Kulgam received a written complaint for assistance from the complainant stating that his daughter (name withheld) was kidnapped and thereof assaulted sexually by two persons namely Shahrukh Safdar Khan S/O Safdar Ahmad Khan and Ishfaq Ahmad Khan S/O Fayaz Ahmad Khan both the residents of Chattabal Kulgam.”

Adding that acting promptly on the complaint, a Case with FIR No. 183/2021 U/S 363, 376/511, 323 IPC was registered in Police station Kulgam and investigation was set into motion.

Accordingly, a team headed by SHO Kulgam Insp. Jazib Mohammed under the supervision of DySP HQR Kulgam Shri Ghulam Muhamad Bhat-JKPS was constituted to trace and nab the culprits, the statement added.

Utilizing all available means, specific information was generated by the investigating team and one accused person Shahrukh Safdar khan was arrested within one hour after complaint was received in Police Station Kulgam. The girl after fulfilling all medical  formalities has been handed over to her legal heirs, efforts are on to nab the another accused.
